However, such rapidly advancing technologies also come with significant risks and concerns. Most communications to date are encrypted on a large scale using the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) invented in the 1970s. For example, commonly used passwords for email accounts, online banking, and secure messaging platforms all rely on this system for encryption protection.
