Jenrick: EU Migration Pack ‘Not Worth the Paper It’s Written On’

The new EU migration pact is “not worth the paper it’s written on,” former immigration minister Robert Jenrick said on Friday as he pressured the government to be tougher on tackling illegal migration. EU leaders on Wednesday agreed on its New Pact on Migration and Asylum, which was touted as the answer to the EU’s migration woes when it was made public in September 2020. However, Mr. Jenrick said the new pact “amounts to little more than an audit trail of failure” in an article published in The Telegraph. “For all their talk of ‘intensifying the fight against smugglers’ and providing a ‘European response’ to a ‘European challenge,’ the EU’s plan for tackling illegal migration is not worth the paper it’s written on,” he wrote....
