The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is creating what a former long-time captain says is untenable working conditions—including excessive forced overtime—in an increasingly stressful environment fueled by the recent anti-law enforcement movement, leading to an exodus of deputies, he said. According to media reports, the department is short 1,200 sworn officers.
