Judge Halts Removal of Confederate Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery

A federal judge on Monday has temporarily halted the planned removal of a Confederate monument at Virginia’s Arlington National Cemetery, according to reports. On Monday morning, work had already been underway to remove what’s known as the Confederate Memorial, which was erected in 1914 in honor of soldiers who died fighting for the Confederacy during the Civil War. The monument had not yet been dismantled when the order was issued. The lawsuit was filed Sunday by a group calling itself Defend Arlington, reported The Associated Press.
