
Hungary Expected to Veto Ukraine Aid, Accession Talks at EU Summit in Brussels

NATO member Hungary is expected to veto proposals for a fresh 50-billion-euro aid package for Ukraine at an upcoming European Union summit in Brussels. Slated for Dec. 14 and 15, the summit will see EU leaders decide on whether to provide Kyiv with 50 billion euros (around $54 billion) in economic support and 20 billion euros (around $22 billion) in military assistance. At the summit, EU leaders will also decide on whether to launch EU accession talks with Ukraine, which has long sought to join the European bloc.
