
French President Emmanuel Macron Hopes Australia Lifts Nuclear Ban

French President Emmanuel Macron has indicated that Australia should lift its ban on nuclear energy to achieve net zero in 2050. France is one of 22 countries that has signed an international pledge to triple nuclear energy capacity by 2050. The United States, United Kingdom, Japan, and Canada were also among the countries that have signed the pledge, but not Australia. Nuclear for Australia founder Will Shackel, a Year 11 student, told Mr. Macron he was from Australia and asked about the role of nuclear energy in global plans to decarbonise. “I hope that you manage to lift the ban. I mean nuclear energy is a source that necessary to succeed for carbon neutrality in 2050,” President Macron said....
