Witness Recounts JFK Assassination on 60th Anniversary

Former Associated Press reporter Peggy Simpson recalls the events which transpired on the scene where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas on November 22, 1963. Ms. Simpson is one of the last surviving witnesses who are sharing their stories as the nation marks the 60th anniversary of the President’s murder on Wednesday. “I was just with a great mass of other reporters, just trying to find any bit of information. And it was just a wild, crazy, chaotic, unfathomable scene,” said Ms. Simpson, describing her memories of what transpired. Stephen Fagin, curator at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, which tells the story of the assassination, says it’s important to hear what happened from those who were on or near the scene. “So many of the voices that were here, even 10 years ago, to share their memories—law enforcement officials, reporters, eyewitnesses—so many of those folks have passed away,” he says....
