CDC Data Shows Influenza on the Rise in These Seven US States

The U.S. influenza season is underway, with at least seven states reporting high levels of illnesses and cases rising in other parts of the country, according to recent U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data. The CDC posted new flu data late last week, suggesting “very high” activity in Louisiana, and high activity in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, New Mexico, and South Carolina. It was also high in the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, the U.S. territory where health officials declared an influenza epidemic earlier this month. “Seasonal influenza activity continues to increase in most parts of the country, most notably in the South Central, Southeast, and West Coast regions,” the CDC said....
