Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has asked the court to set an Aug. 5, 2024, trial date in former President Donald Trump’s election interference case in Georgia, just months ahead of the November presidential election. If that date is accepted by Judge Scott McAfee, President Trump could potentially be mired in trial proceedings as Americans head to the polls in November to pick the next U.S. president.
