
Former West Virginia Police Officer Sentenced to 6 Months Jail Over Disappearance of K9
A former police officer was sentenced to more than six months in jail after he pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the disappearance of his K9 Chase in April. Marcus Dudley, 26, of South Charleston, West Virginia, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in October to misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty and making false statements to an officer. On Nov. 9, Kanawha County Circuit Judge Stephanie Abraham sentenced Mr. Dudley to six months and five days in the county jail, with 17 days remaining after the time he already served. The judge ordered Mr. Dudley to pay a $2,000 fine, $6,000 in restitution to the town of Chapmanville, West Virginia, for the cost of Chase, $522 to the South Charleston Police Department, and enroll in an anger management class for animal cruelty....
