
Ex-fundraiser for Rep. Santos Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud, Impersonating Congressional Aide

A former fundraiser for Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) pleaded guilty on Nov. 14 to federal wire fraud charges related to impersonating a high-ranking aide to ex-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) while soliciting donations for Mr. Santos, according to the Department of Justice. Fundraiser Samuel Miele, 27, was charged with four counts of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, according to court documents filed on Aug. 15. He pleaded guilty Tuesday at the federal courthouse in Central Islip, New York, to wire fraud committed while he was working as a fundraiser for Mr. Santos, who at the time was a candidate seeking election to the U.S. House of Representatives....
